A global automotive components manufacturer sought to upgrade the employee badge system of its largest North American subsidiary, with the primary goal of transitioning to a more secure solution from legacy 125-kHz proximity. The solution needed to enhance security while maintaining compatibility with existing identity-based applications.

The DE2-125 card is a 13.56-MHz MIFARE® DESFire® EV2/EV3 contactless smartcard combined with 125-kHz proximity technology.

For enterprise sites with a large number of readers to replace, issue these dual-frequency cards before replacing legacy proximity readers with contactless smartcard readers. Card holders will be able to use existing proximity readers, as well as the newer smartcard readers as they are being installed.
